Those Dying Mango Trees in Todos Santos

I took a few photos yesterday of the worst of the dying mango trees that I could easily locate. There used to be an open canal running by these trees that provided water. The canal has been converted to piping and sealed up with a concrete lid. The trees are suffering greatly.

Todos Santos Mango-Mania

So the Mango Festival did open without incident. I didn’t attend the opening ceremonies. Sorry. The rain stopped in plenty of time for things to dry up. I did drive by the festival site this morning, just to check it out. It’s all happening at the little park in San Ignacio, close to the Fire Station. The road was single lane going past the park. There is a small midway setup with about 5-6 kid’s rides. I saw two small stages and another small area for the queen of festival, Luly I.

All in all, it looked like a poor man’s version of the October festival. I’ll try to get some photos maybe even tonight – maybe. Reggae band KL from La Paz is scheduled to play tonight. I heard that the music went on until 2 a.m. last night.
