Because of the Wonderful Things He Does

True enough, we have a new theatre in town (in Las Tunas actually) called Blue Moon. It is right behind my house. I hear all the auditions and practices but it’s not that bad as they usually stop by 10 pm and I stay up much later than that. Blue Moon is the brainchild of Isabel Smythe and she is currently staging her most ambitious project yet, The Wizard of Oz (with a Todos Santos twist.)

The storyline is mostly the same, with munchkins and good and bad witches. But in a twist, Dorothy is middle aged, retired in Todos Santos, living on the beach in a camper. A hurricane takes her to Oz. A little different than Kansas and tornados but close enough.

The final performance is Friday, Feb 18. It is worth seeing. Some of the acting is great, some less so but keep in mind that many of the participants are novices. The costumes are amazing and mostly the work of Roxanne Sparks. Kudos to everyone involved – it took a lot of effort to acheive.
