Aw Shucks!

Sorry everyone. I missed the bikini contest. It was Saturday afternoon and I was busy putting some finishing touches on the October issue of El Calendario. I was hoping the contest would have been on Sunday. The surf contest is today but the bikini was yesterday. I hear that Joela Corado won first place and that she was a crowd pleaser.

Happy Birthday Blog!

True enough, today is the one year anniversary of my first post on this blog. All I can say is wow! I never expected to post this often nor for so many different people to read the blog.

Thanks for all your support!

Another Storm – Juliette

If you were here in 2001, you can’t forget Hurricane Julietta. She parked off the coast of Todos Santos for almost 2 days, raining constantly, flooding roads and creating new arroyos. She wiped out the San Pedrito Trailer Park. They rebuilt, but were never the same again.

So here comes another Juliette. Only this time she looks like she won’t even come near us and won’t be very strong either. From our friends at NOAA:

Father’s Day Off Road Race

Okay, now I am playing catch up. On Father’s Day, June 17, an off road race roared through the north suburbs of Todos Santos. Here are a few photos for you to enjoy. All were taken on the Playitas road in Las Tunas.

Los Cerritos Bikini Contest

Saturday and Sunday, September 29 and 30, there will be a surf and bikini contest at Los Cerritos beach. Pre-contest publicity indicates it will be a large event. There are cash prizes for 1st – 3rd place (I believe) and there will be 5 bikini judges. I am told the judges have to pay a 10,000 peso fee for the honor. I may or may not make it there to take photos. Just depends on how the weekend goes. Diablo Blanco surf shop is sponsoring the event. They are located next door to the Los Cerritos Beach Club, on the beach at Los Cerritos.

It Makes One Wonder

At the bottom of a recent email from a friend, I found this pearl of wisdom. I am no longer much involved in politics in the US but the quote below really makes me wonder.

The Iraq War is costing $720 million per day,
$500,000 per minute, says the Friends Service
Committee. One day could buy homes for 6,500
families or health care for 423,529 children,
or could outfit 1.27 million homes with renewable
electricity. It is so only because we tolerate it.

New Access to Todos Santos Pages Blog

I have setup a new domain, www.todossantos.net, that will be the future home of this blog. Right now you can access the blog from the new domain name. In the near future (as soon as I figure out the install and admin of wordpress on my own domain), the updates to the blog will only be posted on todossantos.net. Just FYI as I will let everyone know when the new domain is the only way to view the updated blog entries.
